The journey

4 DAYS 3 NIGHTS MIKUMI + RUAHA BY SGR MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK Mikumi National Park is located 3 hours from Dar es Salaam and Morogoro. It is the 4th largest park in Tanzania and often called "Little Serengeti" because of its open plains, short grass and easy wildlife viewing. The park is part of the Selous ecosystem and is famous for the Mkata Floodplains where you can see large herds of elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and lion prides. The Hippo Pools are a highlight where you can watch hippos, crocodiles and many birds. Mikumi has over 400 bird species and is ideal for both first-time visitors and photographers because the terrain is flat and animals are easy to spot. There are no rhinos in the park. RUAHA NATIONAL PARK Ruaha National Park is Tanzania’s second largest national park and one of the most untouched wilderness areas in East Africa. It is located in central Tanzania, about 4-5 hours from Mikumi via Iringa. The park is dominated by the Great Ruaha River which attracts huge concentrations of wildlife in the dry season. Ruaha is famous for its large elephant herds of 500+, big lion prides, African wild dog, cheetah, leopard, sable antelope and greater kudu It has the highest density of lions in Tanzania The landscape is wild and rugged with baobabs, rocky kopjes and riverine forest. Because it receives fewer tourists than northern parks, game drives feel very exclusive and authentic. Ruaha is perfect for travelers looking for a true off-the-beaten-path safari experience. Mikumi gives you easy, close wildlife in a short time. Ruaha gives you raw wilderness, big predators and huge herds. Together they make the perfect 4-day safari from Dar es Salaam.
