Drive 2 hours to Tarangire National Park - 3rd largest park in Tanzania. Famous for *large elephant herds (3,000), giant baobab trees, and Tarangire River* which is the only water source for animals in dry season. Game drive all day: lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, impala. Picnic lunch inside park with baobab view. Evening drive to Karatu for overnight. Accommodation: Haven Nature Camp & Lodge - Tented lodge with double bed, hot shower, swimming pool Meals: Lunch & Dinner DAY 2: TARANGIRE TO SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK Early breakfast 06:00, drive via Ngorongoro Highlands to Serengeti National Park - "Endless Plain". Drive is scenic, game viewing en route. Stop at Ngorongoro viewpoint for crater photos. Enter Serengeti at Naabi Hill Gate at lunch time. Afternoon game drive in Central Serengeti - Seronera Valley - best area for big cats. You will see lions resting on kopjes rocks, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, hippos at Retina Pool, giraffes. Serengeti has 3,000 lions and 1.5 million wildebeest during migration. Accommodation: Into Wild Africa Luxury Tented Camp (comfort upgrade) OR Nyani Campsite (budget bush camp) - Both inside Serengeti, you hear lions at night Meals:Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner DAY 3: SERENGETI TO NGORONGORO CRATER Sunrise game drive 05:45 in Serengeti - best time to see lions hunting. Return to camp for breakfast. Then drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. optional Maasai Village visit ($30 per person) - see boma, traditional dance, buy souvenirs. Arrive at crater rim late afternoon. This place is 2,320m altitudevery cold, misty, but has breathtaking view of crater floor below. Accommodation: Rhino Lodge / Serena Safari Lodge (comfort) OR Simba Campsite (budget) - On crater rim, closest to descent road for early entry tomorrow Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner DAY 4: NGORONGORO CRATER TO ARUSHA - END Early morning 06:00 descend 600m into Ngorongoro Crater - UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is the world's largest intact volcanic caldera, 20km wide. Full day game drive inside crater floor. Home to 30,000 resident animals including the Big Five in one day: lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and the rare black rhino. Also hyenas, cheetahs, hippos, flamingos on Lake Magadi, zebras, wildebeest. Picnic lunch at Hippo Pool. Afternoon 14:00 ascend and drive back to Arusha - arrive 18:00.
